4Cs of Lab-Grown diamonds

A diamond's beauty is not determined by size alone. Whether a diamond is lab-grown or mined, its quality is evaluated using the same internationally recognized standards: Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat Weight. These four characteristics, known as the 4Cs, help determine how brilliant, beautiful, and valuable a diamond appears.

Cut

A diamond's cut determines how effectively light enters, reflects, and exits the stone. When cut with precision, a diamond creates the breathtaking sparkle, fire, and brilliance that make it so captivating. Even a diamond with excellent color and clarity can appear dull if it is poorly cut.

For maximum brilliance, prioritize Excellent or Very Good cut grades.

A beautifully cut diamond will often appear more impressive than a larger diamond with lower cut quality.

Colour

Most diamonds contain subtle traces of color. The less color a diamond has, the rarer and more valuable it becomes.

Colour Grades

  • D-F (Colourless): Exceptional brightness and purity

  • G-J (Near Colourless): Appears colourless to most eyes and offers excellent value

  • K-M (Faint Colour): Slight warmth may be visible

  • N-Z (Noticeable Colour): Visible yellow or brown tones

Clarity

Almost every diamond contains tiny internal characteristics known as inclusions. Clarity measures the visibility of these natural features. Most inclusions are microscopic and cannot be seen without magnification.

Clarity Grades

  • FL (Flawless): No visible inclusions under 10x magnification

  • IF (Internally Flawless): No internal inclusions visible

  • VVS1-VVS2 (Very Very Slight Included): Extremely difficult to detect

  • VS1=VS2 (Very Slightly Included): Minor inclusions visible under magnification

  • SI1-SI2 (Slightly Included): Inclusions may be visible under magnification

Carat

Carat measures a diamond's weight. One carat equals 0.20 grams. While larger diamonds are naturally rarer, carat alone does not determine beauty. A well-cut 1-carat diamond can often appear more brilliant than a poorly cut 2-carat diamond.
